Informed Families is the Florida sponsor of the national Red Ribbon Campaign®, the oldest and largest substance abuse prevention campaign in the nation. Sponsored by the National Family Partnership, Red Ribbon Week is celebrated annually by over 80 Million people from October 23rd - 31st.
Since 2005, over 62 schools nationwide have received the honor of Red Ribbon certification. The Red Ribbon Certified Schools (RRCS) program assesses and celebrates the successful efforts of schools in four areas key to the prevention of substance abuse among youth:
- School environment
- Use of evidence based programs and best practices
- Parent involvement
- Year-round Red Ribbon activities
Eligibility
The program is open to all elementary, middle and high schools. Applicants receive support and tutorials to complete the online application process. Certified schools receive a flag and plaque to display their designation. Awardees remain certified for three years.
New applicants are accepted from September 1st to December, 31st. Applications are due by mid April. Informational webinars are held monthly. For more information about getting your school certified, visit www.redribbonschools.org to register for the next webinar.

What's the Process?

- Request an Application ID
- Form an Application Team (Principal, Teacher, Student, Parent, Liaison)
- Complete your online application
- Submit your application by mid April
